우연한 산보 ≪고독한 미식가≫와 함께 구스미 마사유키(久住昌之)와 다니구치 지로(谷口ジロドー) 콤비가 펴낸 다른 한 작품이 ≪우연한 산보≫이다. ≪고독한 미식가≫와 전혀 다른 주제를 다루지만 분위기가 비슷하다. 영업사원 우에노하라는 이런 저런 일로 우연한 산보를 하면서, 평상시에는 주목하지 않았던 정경에 눈 뜨게 된다. 처음 가보게 된 곳에서 이런 곳이 있구나 저런 곳이 있구나 하면서. 일상의 그저 그런 모습일 것 같은데 그것을 엮어가는 구스미 마사유키의 말솜씨가 대단하다. 물론 여기서도 다니구치 지로의 디테일한 그림이 위력을 발휘한다. 실제의 거리 풍경을 따듯하게 그렸다. 가보고 싶도록. 구스미 마사유키에 따르면 그 그림은 모두 사진을 바탕으로 한 것이다.
